Chairperson

Ms. Shahnaz Rahman joined the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Lamps Limited in October 1993, soon after Transcom Limited took over the ownership of the Company. She was appointed as Chairperson of the Company on April 04, 2013.

Ms. Rahman is the Chairman & Managing Director of Transcom Limited and Chairman of all the subsidiary companies under Transcom Group. She is a Director of Reliance Insurance Limited and Mediaworld Limited.

Ms. Simeen Rahman
Managing Director & CEO

Ms. Simeen Rahman joined the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Lamps Limited on 19th April 2009. She has been the Managing Director & CEO of the Company since 15th September 2020.

Ms. Simeen Rahman is a Bangladeshi businesswoman and is the Group CEO of Transcom Limited and serves as a Board Director of all Transcom Group Companies. Transcom is one of the largest and most diversified conglomerates in the country. She presides over all Transcom Group companies with operational and management control.

Ms. Rahman serves as the Managing Director & CEO of Eskayef Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Eskayef has a presence across 67 countries. Eskayef is the first company in the world to partner with Novo Nordisk to manufacture modern pen-fill insulin and the first company in the world to launch the first generic Remdesivir, Molnuvpiravir and Paxlovid  to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Eskayef has been accredited with the prestigious US FDA approval for both its injectable and oral products, the first of its kind in Bangladesh and among a handful in both South and Southeast Asia.

She is also the Managing Director & CEO of Transcom Beverages Ltd. (Exclusive franchise of PepsiCo Beverages), Transcom Consumer Products Ltd. (first ever PepsiCo Foods Franchisee in the world) and of Bangladesh’s largest distribution company, Transcom Distribution Co. Ltd.

In addition, Ms. Simeen Rahman is the Vice President of the premier trade body of Bangladesh – the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) – Dhaka. She is also a member of the Executive Board of International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) – Bangladesh.

She is a director on the board of one of Bangladesh’s digital banks, Kori Digital.

Ms. Shahzreh Huq is a Director of Bangladesh Lamps Limited.

Mr. Atiqur Rahman joined the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Lamps Limited in March 1993, soon after taking over the ownership of the Company by Transcom Limited.

Mr. Rahman is the Chairman of Heritage Agro Farms Limited and Director of Monipur Tea Company Limited, Marina Tea Company Limited & M. Rahman Tea Company Limited. He is also a Board Member of various companies under Transcom Group. Besides, he is a Director and Chairman of the Executive Committee of IDLC Finance Limited.

Mr. Md. Habibur Rahman Mollah
Independent Director

Mr. Md. Habibur Rahman Mollah was appointed to the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Lamps Limited on 1st January 2022 as an Independent Director.

Mr. Mollah, a fellow member of the Institution of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), completed his graduation and post–graduation degree in Accounting from the Dhaka University and later qualified as a Chartered Accountant from the ICAB. He carries over 39 years of experience of serving the key positions in the areas of corporate and financial management in various capacities including Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Executive Director, etc. with multi-disciplinary business organizations. Mr. Mollah was Director to the Board of IDLC Finance PLC for about seven years and Reliance Insurance Limited for about one and half years.

He is also an Independent Director and member of Audit Committee of the Board of Reliance Insurance Limited.

Mr. Mohammad Zahid Hossain
Independent Director

Mr. Mohammad Zahid Hossain was appointed to the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Lamps Limited on 13th June 2023 as an Independent Director.

Mr. Hossain is a Chartered Accountant, a Fellow Member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) since 2002. He is an Associate Member of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Institute of Chartered Accountant in England and Wales (ICAEW) and Full Member of CPA Australia. He is also a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).

During his long professional life of more than 23 years, he worked in the role of CFO in different National and Multinational companies. He had been shouldering responsibilities in the areas of Financial Reporting, Direct & indirect taxes, Strategic planning, Risk Management, Finance and Corporate & Legal Affairs.  He worked as Board Member in BAPEX (Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Limited) for more than 5 years until August 2020. During this tenure, he contributed in financial control, project feasibility, audit, compliance etc. 

Mr. Hossain is an acclaimed writer for various financial journals and national English Dailies at home and abroad. He attends TV programs as discussants on business and economy related topics. He also moderated webinars attended by discussants from home and abroad.

He is an active member of standing and non-standing committees of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh.

He is a part-time Faculty of couple of reputed private Universities in Bangladesh.

He completed his Bachelor of Commerce under Dhaka University. Earlier in his academic endeavors, he stood 13th in the commerce merit list of Higher Secondary School (HSC) examination.

Ms. Maria Howlader
Independent Director

Ms. Maria Howlader was appointed to the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Lamps Limited on 27th October 2024 as an Independent Director.

Howlader is the Founder & Managing Partner of Howlader Maria & Co., Chartered Accountants (Member Firm of KRESTON Global), the 1st Female Founded CA Firm in Bangladesh.

Before founding her professional practice and consultancy work, she was a partner in one of the reputed CA firms, a member firm of PWC & Ernst & Young (EY), and practiced there for almost 11 years.

With over 19 years of extensive experience in Bangladesh’s accounting, taxation, and audit practices, Maria has been devoted to providing professional support to startups, foreign companies, and local conglomerates. Her areas of expertise include serving as an auditor, accountant, tax consultant, and advisor on corporate transactions. She is passionate about using accounting as a tool to solve complex challenges.

Maria has developed expertise in corporate structures, international group transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and facilitating foreign businesses in setting up operations in Bangladesh. She has provided advisory services across diverse industries, including manufacturing, construction, IT, government projects, retail, travel, media, and marketing. Her trusted advisor approach has also been instrumental in supporting private clients, SMEs, and women entrepreneurs.

Currently, Maria is serving as the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) for 2025. She previously held the position of Vice President of ICAB in 2024, becoming the first female Vice President in ICAB’s history. Maria has been a Council Member of ICAB since 2019.

She is the first female Director on the Board of the Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry (JBCCI) and currently serves as its Secretary General. She has also chaired the Women Leadership Committee in the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) during 2021 and 2022, championing women’s empowerment in leadership.

Maria has served as a faculty member at ICAB and contributed significantly to various ICAB committees. A frequent speaker at national and international forums, she has presented on taxation, doing business in Bangladesh, company law, and other key topics.
